It's a common idea in the church that you should give without desire to receive. The dominating concept here is that if we give with the intent or hope of getting, we have wrong intentions. Nothing freezes us more than constantly judging our intentions(More on that some other time). Last I checked Jesus motivated us with the concept of reward with scriptures like:
2 Corinthians 9:6
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Deuteronomy 15:10
Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.
God is interested in your giving and wants to bless the mess out of you! I give more knowing that I will be blessed in the future to pour out more and to support my family the way I desire. Prosperity with a purpose is not evil. The love of money is.
