Right Believing Leads to Right Experiencing
Hebrews 4:6-11
6 Those who first heard the good news of deliverance failed to enter into that realm of faith’s rest because of their unbelieving hearts. Yet the fact remains that we still have the opportunity to enter into the faith-rest life and experience the fulfillment of the promise! 7 For God still has ordained a day for us to enter into called “Today.” For it was long afterwards that God repeated it in David’s words,
“If only today you would listen to his voice
and do not harden your hearts!”
8 Now if this promise of “rest” was fulfilled when Joshua brought the people into the land,[f] God wouldn’t have spoken later of another “rest” yet to come. 9 So we conclude that there is still a full and complete Sabbath-rest[g]waiting for believers[h] to experience. 10 As we enter into God’s faith-rest life we cease from our own works, just as God celebrates his finished works and rests in them.[i] 11 So then we must be eager to experience this faith-rest life, so that no one falls short by following the same pattern of doubt and unbelief.
Jesus is the gospel
When we mix the message of the gospel with faith. We experience Jesus. In the gospel is the key to constant experiencing of God. We look to Christ and Christ alone for the gift of his presence. His voice, presence and gifts are all…GIFTS! We constantly look to Jesus and rely on him completely for all things. He leads my life, He leads my family, He leads my business, He leads my relationships, my money and everything in between.
Our vocation is to consider him. Christ, his finished work on the cross (which purchased our identity by the way) is all the gospel. Who we are, Who He is (Christ), and what He has done (Cross) has given us the needed meditation of our hearts. When we focus our hearts on what He has done and we meditate on it (we slow down and we process it) it unleashes new Holy Ghost experiences.
if you want to hear from God more, you might want to feast on “ My sheep hear my voice” and “Eyes to see and ears to hear are GIFTS from the Lord (Proverbs, Emphasis mine).
If you want to feel more, meditate on the locality of God. “I am with you even to the end of the age.” How about “ The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me.” (Romans 8)
Give yourself to the Lord. Surrender your life to the unceasing blessing that He is. We were sick. Christ was the cure.
