You are Connected
Colossians 1:18-23
He is the Head of his body, which is the church. And since he is the beginning and the firstborn heir in resurrection, he is the most exalted One, holding first place in everything. For God is satisfied to have all his fullness dwelling in Christ. And by the blood of his cross, everything in heaven and earth is brought back to himself— back to its original intent, restored to innocence again! Even though you were once distant from him, living in the shadows of your evil thoughts and actions, he reconnected you back to himself. He released his supernatural peace to you through the sacrifice of his own body as the sin-payment on your behalf so that you would dwell in his presence. And now there is nothing between you and Father God, for he sees you as holy, flawless, and restored, if indeed you continue to advance in faith, assured of a firm foundation to grow upon. Never be shaken from the hope of the gospel you have believed in. And this is the glorious news I preach all over the world.
Jesus is the head of the body. He is the pre-eminent one. The path to accurate theology is always Jesus as the son of God, who is God, and part of this endless union called the God-head. The trinity and the accurate understanding of their relationship spurs us on the path to accurate beliefs. Accurate doctrine and beliefs are important. Beliefs create values and values create actions. In shorthand, beliefs influence our nature and who we are affects what we do.
God’s intent with the cross was to remove the separation from the natural realm and the Spirit. He wanted to see Coalescense. HIs fullness was in Christ. Who was eternal God and eternal man. Through that work everything is returned to order. The blood has removed the dividers between us and him. We are not trying to “get” into the presence. The presence has “got” into us. Original design has been restored. He reconnected us back to him! Meaning we don’t have to struggle to connect with him. We ARE connected. We have supernatural peace. We will have moments we don’t FEEL connected but a feeling isn’t always an indication. This sin payment has restored us completely and there is nothing between you and him. As we embrace the reality of Jesus’ payment for union, our life will fall into divine order. God takes care of the purity. We just agree with him continually that we are connected with God in Christ.
