The Fainting Spirit
Luke 18:1 AMP
Also Jesus told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).
Don't fall sleep
Men ought always to pray and not faint. What an interesting concept. When we imagine fainting we think of strenuous situations that just exhaust our hearts and bodies to the point of exhaustion. Exercise comes to mind. Those of us who have played sports have all kinds of stories on how strenuous practices and games and workouts can drive someone to the point of fainting. To Jesus prayer is a workout.
Effort
Prayer takes effort! Sometimes before we enter into the sweetness of his presence there must be a contending. There must be a pressing into God. Faith is defined as conviction with persistence (Luke 18:8 ). Faith and patience inherit the promises of God (Hebrews 11). Keep asking God to experience him (Matthew 7:7). Don't give up! Press in until you have an experience with God that changes the core of your nature! Cry out until the glory fills your being and your walk is transformed (Genesis 31)! Don't faint and pass out from exhaustion. Refresh yourself in the goodness of God and his promises!
Praise
Praise is essential in the battle. Thankfulness Is a weapon. Rejoicing an act of warfare. Your prayer will be answered. Seek the things that are above. Seek that which is pure. He will never let you down. Our glory is in Jesus. Our strength is in his faithfulness. It's all about Jesus. It's all about his blood.
Isaiah 61:3
To grant those who mourn in Zion,Giving them a garland instead of ashes,The oil of gladness instead of mourning,The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness,The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Colossians 4:2
Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer life, being both alert and intent in your praying with thanksgiving.
