The Key of David

What is the key of David

The key of David is Isaiah 22.

Isaiah 22:22-23 KJ21

And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open and none shall shut, and he shall shut and none shall open. [23] And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place, and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.

The key of David is the ability to open doors and keep them open and to close doors and keep them shut. Opening and closing is great but I can appreciate the ability to “keep” my breakthroughs and that others cannot undo or “cancel” my accomplishments.

The key is the responsibility to access and release the kingdom of God in our lives. We decide what comes in and what goes out.

Isaiah 22:21 KJ21

And I will clothe him with thy robe and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

He commits the rule of this world in a spiritual sense to us. While our goal is not to control the world, we do want to “serve” the world by bringing the goodness of God to the earth.

That means:

  1. restored and whole marriages

  2. healthy bodies

  3. renewed youth

  4. debts paid! Finances exploding

  5. purpose in work

  6. souls saved and healed

  7. personal growth

  8. powerful family

Matthew 16:19 - New American Standard Bible 1995

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."

Heaven is our model. We are citizens of heaven. Heaven lives within us and through our cooperation we can release heaven on earth. The keys of the Kingdom are the same as the key of David. It’s about opening and shutting doors, portals, and gates.

Matthew 6:10 - New American Standard Bible 1995

[7] "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. [8] So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. [9] "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10] 'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. [11] 'Give us this day our daily bread. [12] 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. [13] 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.']

God wants his kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven. Heaven is our model. We are citizens of heaven because we bring heaven with us not just because we can visit Heaven.

We are citizens of heaven because we bring heaven with us not just because we can visit Heaven.

The Key of David: The Opening of Doors that Shouldn't Be Open to You and Closing Doors That Should Not be Open to You

There will be opportunities that will “open” to you that you do not deserve.

Romans 3:24 - New American Standard Bible 1995

being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;

God’s gifts are by grace. They aren’t deserved. Get used to things you don’t deserve.

Romans 11:6 - New American Standard Bible 1995

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Grace is God’s nature. He doesn’t bless us according to our works, He blesses us according to our faith in Jesus. Faith takes care of the works anyway!

How to use the keys of the Kingdom

  • Ask God for the manifestation of the Kingdom (Matthew 7:7). Ask him for heaven on earth.

  • Bind the enemy’s kingdom and loose God’s kingdom. Ex. Lord, I bind depression and I loose joy!

  • Praise the Lord!

  • See yourself succeeding in every area of your life. Enlighten the eyes of your understanding.

Conclusion

If we change our focus as the gates of the Lord on the earth, the King of glory will come in. The Lord’s strength in war (spiritual) will be released as we bind and loose.

Psalm 24:7-9 NASB95

Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! [8] Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. [9] Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in!
