Reigning in life

Romans 5:17

For if by the trespass of the one (Adam), death reigned through the one (Adam), much more surely will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in [eternal] life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Death reigned through Adam. The word for evil or sin in the New Testament in a lot of cases is “poneros”. It means “full of hardship, labor and annoyances.” This is the death Adam brought. Jesus has given us his righteousness. No longer do we have to labor by the sweat of our brow to make things happen. Things happen because we are reigning in life though Christ. He’s the King of Kings for a reason. He reigns over us. As proverbs says, where the word of a king is, there is power.
